Insurance for Business is a professional insurance intermediary, assisting our clients in business broking. We act on behalf of the client in discussions with underwriters and manage their insurance portfolio on a continuing basis.

Insurance for Business is a subsidiary of McKenzie Ross. McKenzie Ross utilises all the major underwriters operating in Australia and works with specialist underwriting agencies in overseas markets. The company is CBD based and has a broad client base throughout Australia.

Our clients vary enormously from the local milk bar to major corporates. We have vast experience in entertainment insurances including liability and contingency covers. Within our organisation we have specialty divisions in professional risks, building trades and a retail insurances scheme. Through the relationships with our underwriters we are able to provide programs for all general insurance business.

We understand that your business is your asset and aim to deliver the most cost effective insurance solution to protect your interests. Our service does not stop when the business is written but extends most importantly to assist when a claim arises.

McKenzie Ross is a member in professional standing of both the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) and Insurance Brokers Network of Australia (IBNA) and is able to draw on the significant resources of these groups when required. We are also members of Insurance Brokers Disputes Limited (IBD)

Alister Payne, Chairman and Managing Director

Alister founded the Company after twenty two years experience in the insurance industry, with substantial expertise from prior involvement in small to medium sized enterprises.

Before the establishment of McKenzie Ross. Alister held a number of management roles in the insurance industry, the most significant as Managing Director of the MGA Group (Marshall Golding Adam Pty. Ltd.) MGA was then one of the larger Australian owned Brokers, employing some 200 staff nationally and acted for high profile clients throughout Australia.

Unlike most Brokers, Alister had considerable experience in small business before being involved with insurance. This background enables an insurance assessment from a management point of view.

Peter Bloomfield Account Director

Peter has over 34 years experience in the insurance industry, initially as an underwriter with NZI Insurance and then as a broker before forming his own company in 1978.

Peter developed a strong broking business specialising in entertainment and bloodstock insurance. McKenzie Ross completed the purchase of Peter’s business in July 1998. He is also NIBA (National Institute of Brokers Australia) accredited with a Dip.Fin.Serv. (Insurance Broking)

Peter manages the Suburban Division of the Company which incorporates the event and entertainment portfolio.

Ian Johnson Director

Ian was an affiliate of the Australian Stock Exchange Limited and was Chairman and Managing Director of D & D Tolhurst Limited from 1986 until December 2001 when that Company merged with William Noall Ltd to form the new entity Tolhurst Noall Group Limited.

Ian became Managing Director of the new Company during its initial development phase and was an Executive Director until his retirement in late 2004.

Ian is playing a vital role in the Company’s plans and has particular interest in the Financial Services aspects of the Company.

Andrew Payne Director and General Manager

Andrew joined McKenzie Ross in 1998 and assumed the role of Office Manager in January 1999. Andrew, now General Manager, has studied the requirements of, and complies with, the Financial Services Reform Act.

Andrew manages the CBD Division along with his role as the Responsible Officer and complaints manager for the Company.

Andrew has an Assoc.Dip.Bus (International Trade), and an Assoc.Dip.Bus (Marine Transport). He is also a QPIB with NIBA (National Institute of Brokers Australia) and accredited with a Dip.Fin.Serv (Insurance Broking), and is currently studying for his Bachelor of Commerce.
